Last month Is It Balearic? Recordings released a sublime new 12” by long time collaborator, Max Essa. The label approached the dude that is Eddie C about a remix and after listening to the tracks he decided he’d be up for remixing both! This heavyweight sound clash EP is the result.
Jigsaw Moon is a lively, euro disco groover with a Fleetwood Mac-go-Italo vibe that has been a staple in Max’s sets at Aoyama Tunnel in Tokyo for over a year. Eddie C takes the wonderful synth chord hook and classic piano and reimagines the original as a dubbed out acid house masterpiece.
Jules Y Cynthia is one of those tracks that only comes around so often. Both joyous and deeply emotional, truly Balearic and reminiscent of The Cure with a touch of Joy Division maybe. For the remix Eddie turns the Balearometer up to 11, wraps up a draw and unleashes one of the soft bangers of the year. A deeply satisfying groove playfully skanks along, adorned by the gorgeous musical elements of the original.
The vinyl for the release has all but sold out, but the guys at Is it Balearic have allowed both Eddie and Max to make the digital versions available exclusively through their respective Bandcamp pages.
